Year End Awards Program:

Awards given to rider with highest number of ridding hours logged outside the ring!  A drawing from all the other hours submitted will determine the runner up.  Awards given to youth with highest attendance on rides for 13 and under and 14 and above.  Another award given to youngest rider on ride.


Camp Boarmdan  Tree work to start on April 13, 2020 Please refrain from going to camp until camp opeing on April 18th . Unless by prearrangement by appointment only for safety reasons.


Please contact all rides hosts prior to each ride to confirm the ride or event is still on. Be safe and practice social distancing when out riding. 





Connecticut Trail Rides Association Celebrates 75 Years

On November 7, 2015 CTRA celebrated a mile marker of 75 years of riding trails and camping with their horses, having been established in 1940.  The 75th Annual fall Banquet and Meeting was held at the Litchfield Fire House and was attended by over 80 members. Each attendee received a commemorative mug celebrating the club’s 75th year.  Members were also able to pick up their 75th year commemorative shirts. The Banquet Committee members provided a Coffee Hour complete with homemade Hors D’oeuvres for all to enjoy    A catered dinner provided by Scarpelli’s of Torrington was enjoyed by all with dessert being a beautiful cake provided by the committee complete with a picture commemorating the club’s first President Howard Wilcox riding his horse Tony.

There were numerous door prizes awarded with a separate door prize drawing for the youngest members attending this year. The Hours Ridden Program was won this year by Ruth Strontzer, of Haddam CT with a total of 140 hours of trail riding with the partication drawing being won by Christel Maturo, of North Haven who also had the second highest total of 113 hours.

President Lynn Gogolya presided over the General Membership Meeting during which it was announced that during 2015,  29 organized rides were held with an additional 15 Bonus Rides.

The election of officers for the 2016 year was held. The results after a vote count were that the following members will serve as officers in 2016:  President Lynn Gogolya, Vice President Kowboy Ken Forcier, Secretary Patti Crowther, Treasurer/Membership Ruth Strontzer and Camp Director Bud Dore.

Following the meeting there was music and dancing provided by Jim Irving from The Wedding & Party Connection, husband of Life Member Holly Irving.
